Neighbours Day 2017 - Wellington Islamic Centre

We’ve been celebrating Neighbours Day for seven years in City Housing. It’s a chance to acknowledge those who live close by, look out for us and who we rely on in the event of an emergency. Our neighbourhoods are made up of so many people from all parts of the world, 66 ethnicities speaking 45 languages, representing all the continents. Building a community where everyone is accepted, included and cared about takes effort. All Wellingtonians have more in common than we have differences, and yet our diversity can be what separate us sometimes. Neighbours Day is a chance to find out and celebrate what connects us to each other.

The Community Action team held this Neighbours Day on Saturday 25 March for some fun, food, activities, music and friendship to celebrate our diverse community.

This year we visited the Wellington Islamic Centre in Kilbirnie.
